DTC P0010-13: A Camshaft Position Actuator Bank 1 Circuit Open; DTC P0020-13: Camshaft Position "A" Actuator Bank 2 Circuit Open [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    • None.
    • Clear the DTC after recording the freeze frame data and DTC.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    Result: 

    NEXT

  2. READ DTC OUTPUT (DTC P0010-13 OR P0020-13) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch ON and wait 5 seconds.
    • Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0010-13 or P0020-13 is output A
      DTCs are not output B

    Post-procedure1

    • None.

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [12/2023 - ]

  3. INSPECT CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (FOR INTAKE CAMSHAFT) 

    for Bank 1: Refer to INSPECTION [12/2023 - ]

    for Bank 2: Refer to INSPECTION [12/2023 - ]

    NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (FOR INTAKE CAMSHAFT) 

    for Bank 1: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]

    for Bank 2: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (FOR INTAKE CAMSHAFT) - ECM) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly (for intake camshaft) connector.
    • Disconnect the ECM connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      C93-1 (+R) - C86-11 (OC1+) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      C93-2 (-R) - C86-10 (OC1-) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      C95-1 (+) - C86-9 (OC2+) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      C95-2 (-) - C86-8 (OC2-) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      C93-1 (+R) or C86-11 (OC1+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C93-2 (-R) or C86-10 (OC1-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C95-1 (+) or C86-9 (OC2+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
