Pattern Select Switch EV Mode Circuit [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. ASK ABOUT VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check if a buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on the multi-information display when attempting to enter EV mode.

      HINT: 

      If a buzzer sounds or a message is displayed on the multi-information display, one or more of the EV mode entry conditions have not been met. Check that all of the EV mode entry conditions have been met before pressing the EV/HV AUTO mode switch.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Check the CAN Bus Check.

      CAN Bus Check 

      Result

      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed. A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed. B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2023 - ]

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2023 - ]

  4. READ VALUE USING GTS (EVMS SIGNAL STATUS, EV MODE STATUS) 
    1. Read the value displayed on the GTS.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

  5. INSPECT EV/HV AUTO MODE SWITCH (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [12/2023 - ]

    REPLACE EV/HV AUTO MODE SWITCH (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - ]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EV/HV AUTO MODE SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the EV/HV AUTO mode switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D22-7 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the EV/HV AUTO mode switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - EV/HV AUTO MODE SWITCH (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the EV/HV AUTO mode switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D117-42 (EVMS) - D22-13 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      D117-42 (EVMS) or D22-13 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the the EV/HV AUTO mode switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]
