DTC P16B5-11: Multi Flow Control Valve Sensor Circuit Short to Ground [09/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    HINT: 

    Make sure that the connector is properly connected. If it is not, securely connect it and check for DTCs again.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the water control valve connector.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      C39-2 (VCFC) - C39-3 (EFCV) Ignition switch ON 4.5 to 5.5 V V
      C39-1 (FCV) - C39-3 (EFCV) Ignition switch ON 3.0 to 5.0 V V

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    Pre-procedure2

    • None
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      C39-2 (VCFC) - C39-1 (FCV) Ignition switch off 190 to 210 kΩ

      NG

    Post-procedure2

    • None

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE WATER CONTROL VALVE. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WATER CONTROL VALVE - ECM) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the water control valve connector.
    • Disconnect the ECM connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      C39-2 (VCFC) - C26-70 (VCFV) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      C39-1 (FCV) or C26-72 (FCA) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
