Steering Pad Switch Circuit [09/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [09/2023 - ]

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [09/2023 - ]

    Result

    Proceed to
    OK
    NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - 12/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  4. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT VOLTAGE)

    *a Front view of wire harness connector
    (to Spiral Cable Sub-assembly)
    1. Connect the D17 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D5-11 (+DP) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 4.8 to 5.2 V
      D5-10 (+DP2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 4.8 to 5.2 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D7 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D7-20 (SWG) - D5-4 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      D7-1 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - 12/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D17 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D5-11 (+DP) - D17-29 (MSM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-10 (+DP2) - D17-12 (MSTI) Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-11 (+DP) or D17-29 (MSM+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D5-10 (+DP2) or D17-12 (MSTI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D17 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D5-11 (+DP) - D17-29 (MSM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-10 (+DP2) - D17-12 (MSTI) Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-4 (EAU) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-11 (+DP) or D17-29 (MSM+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D5-10 (+DP2) or D17-12 (MSTI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2023 - ]
