- Check the threaded part of the axle hub bolt for damage or foreign matter.
- Inspect the washer:
- INSPECT AXLE HUB BOLT (AXLE HUB BOLT WITH A WASHER (STOPPER RING TYPE)) NOTE:
Do not remove the stopper ring or washer from the axle hub bolt.
If the stopper ring or washer is removed from the axle hub bolt, replace the axle hub bolt with a new one.
- Inspect the washer:
*a Seating Surface *b Contact Surface of the Bolt *c Rotates Smoothly - - - Check the movement of the washer (spherical seat surface and bolt contact surface) of the axle hub bolt and confirm that there is no damage or foreign matter.
Standard
The washer rotates smoothly and there is no damage or foreign matter.
HINT:
- If there is any foreign matter on the spherical seat surface or bolt contact surface, clean it off without removing the stopper ring.
- Do not clean with oil or grease.
- If any of the following conditions are met, replace the axle hub bolt with a new one.
- The washer does not rotate smoothly, even after cleaning
- Foreign matter cannot be removed
- The stopper ring has come off
- Check the movement of the washer (spherical seat surface and bolt contact surface) of the axle hub bolt and confirm that there is no damage or foreign matter.
- Inspect the stopper ring:
*a Stopper Ring *b Stopper Ring Installation Groove - Check that the stopper ring is not damaged or deteriorated (chipped, gouged, cut, fractured, split) and that there is no foreign matter.
Standard
There is no damage, deterioration or foreign matter.
HINT:
- If there is any foreign matter, clean it off without removing the stopper ring.
- Do not clean with oil or grease.
- If any of the following conditions are met, replace the axle hub bolt with a new one.
- The stopper ring is damaged or deteriorated
- Foreign matter cannot be removed
- The stopper ring has come off
- Check the installation condition of the stopper ring.
Standard
Check that the stopper ring is installed to the stopper ring installation groove as shown in the illustration.
HINT:
If the stopper ring is not installed to the stopper ring installation groove as shown in the illustration, replace the axle hub bolt with a new one.
- Check that the stopper ring is not damaged or deteriorated (chipped, gouged, cut, fractured, split) and that there is no foreign matter.
- Inspect the threaded part:
*a Threaded Part - - - Check the threaded part of the axle hub bolt for damage or foreign matter.
Standard
There is no damage or foreign matter.
HINT:
- If there is any foreign matter, clean it off without removing the stopper ring.
- Do not clean with oil or grease.
- If any of the following conditions are met, replace the axle hub bolt with a new one.
- There is damage
- Foreign matter cannot be removed
- The stopper ring has come off
- Check the threaded part of the axle hub bolt for damage or foreign matter.
- Inspect the washer:
- INSTALL WHEEL ASSEMBLY NOTE:HINT: Using a 17 mm impact socket wrench with cover, the axle hub bolts can be easily removed and installed without damaging the wheel assembly.
- Check that there is no foreign matter or rust on the axle hub bolt hole threads and the contact surfaces of the wheel, brake disc, axle hub, etc. Clean the contact surfaces and axle hub bolts if necessary. If a wheel assembly is installed with foreign matter or rust between the contact surfaces, the foreign matter or rust may work loose. This may result in a reduction of the fastening force (axial force) leading to looseness or loss of one or more axle hub bolts.
- When installing the axle hub bolts, check that the axle hub bolts rotate smoothly by hand. If the axle hub bolts do not rotate smoothly, check that there is no foreign matter or rust and clean if necessary. If the axle hub bolts still do not rotate smoothly, replace the axle hub and axle hub bolts with new ones.
- Make sure to use the specified axle hub bolt for the vehicle and model.
If an axle hub bolt for a vehicle or model other than specified is used, the axle hub bolt may become loose and possibly lead to a serious accident.
Axle Hub Bolt Compatibility:
*a Compatible Axle Hub Bolt Examples *b Spherical Seat Type Axle Hub Bolt (without a Washer) *c Spherical Seat Type Axle Hub Bolt (Swage Type with a Washer) *d Spherical Seat Type Axle Hub Bolt (Stopper Ring Type with a Washer) *e Tapered Seat Type Axle Hub Bolt *f Flat Seat Type Axle Hub Nut *g Spherical Seat Type Wheel Assembly *h Flat Seat Type Wheel Assembly *i Tapered Seat Type Wheel Assembly *j Wheel Assembly NOTE:- *1: For the spherical seat type axle hub bolts, there is a type without a washer (*b), and a type with a washer (*c, *d).
As the type without a washer and the type with a washer are a different shape, they are not compatible and cannot be mixed.
- *2: Do not use "spherical seat type axle hub bolt (stopper ring type with a washer)" that is used for other models for steel wheels.
The stopper ring may split.
-
- If installing a rear wheel assembly, release the electronic parking brake.
- Rotate the axle hub so that one of the axle hub bolt holes (axle hub threaded part) is at the 12 o'clock position.
- Confirm that the installation bolt of the brake disc is securely tightened.
for Front Brake (for 6-Pot Caliper): Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
for Front Brake (except 6-Pot Caliper): Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
for Rear Brake: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
NOTE:The mounting bolt for the brake disc must not under any circumstances protrude onto the contact surface between the brake disc and the wheel assembly.
- Install SST to the uppermost axle hub bolt hole.
- SST: 09650-53010
NOTE:Make sure that SST is securely installed.
- Install the wheel assembly using SST as a guide, and while centering the wheel assembly, install 4 axle hub bolts by hand.NOTE:
Wheel Assembly Placement Area When placing the wheel assembly on SST, make sure to position the wheel assembly within the area shown in the illustration and do not apply excessive force.
- Make sure the wheel assembly uniformly contacts the brake disc.
- Do not apply oil or grease to the spherical seat of the axle hub bolts or wheel assembly.
HINT:
Use SST to facilitate alignment of wheel assembly with the axle hub bolt hole and to prevent the wheel assembly from falling.
- Remove SST, and install and tighten the remaining axle hub bolt by hand.
- Temporarily tighten the axle hub bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
- Lower the vehicle then fully tighten the axle hub bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
