  2. CHECK OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0087-00)
    1. Read the DTCs.

Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      Result

      Result Proceed to
P0087-00 and other DTCs are output A
      P0087-00 is output B

      HINT:

If any DTCs other than P0087-00 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Result:

GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2022 - 08/2023]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2023 - 10/2024]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2024 - ]

    Result:

      Tester Display
      Fuel Remaining Volume

      Standard

      Freeze Frame Data Item Standard
      Fuel Remaining Volume Not Emp

      HINT:

      • DTC P0087-00 may be stored if the engine stopped after running out of fuel or the vehicle temporarily ran out of fuel when the amount of fuel was low.
      • If Freeze Frame Data item "Fuel Remaining Volume" is not displayed, based on the interview with the customer, check if the low fuel level warning was not displayed when the MIL illuminated.

  4. READ FREEZE FRAME DATA (TARGET FUEL PRESSURE (LOW) /TARGET FUEL PRESSURE 2 AND LOW FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR)

    Pre-procedure1

    • Using the GTS, confirm the vehicle conditions recorded in the Freeze Frame Data which were present when the DTC was stored.

      Powertrain > Engine > DTC(P0087-00) > Freeze Frame Data

      Tester Display
Target Fuel Pressure (Low) / Target Fuel Pressure 2
      Low Fuel Pressure Sensor

      HINT:

      • Check the Freeze Frame Data sets recorded the moment the DTC was stored and after the DTC was stored.
      • Using the Freeze Frame Data, confirm the vehicle conditions when the DTC was stored, such as if the engine was idling with the shift state P, D or N or if the vehicle was being driven at a constant speed or accelerating.
    • Compare the difference in pressure between "Target Fuel Pressure (Low) /Target Fuel Pressure 2 and Low Fuel Pressure Sensor".

      Result

      Result Proceed to
The difference between the value of Target Fuel Pressure (Low) / Target Fuel Pressure 2 and Low Fuel Pressure Sensor is 200 or less A
The difference between the value of Target Fuel Pressure (Low) / Target Fuel Pressure 2 and Low Fuel Pressure Sensor is more than 200 B

    Post-procedure1

    Result:

GO TO FUEL PUMP CONTROL CIRCUIT. Refer to  Fuel Pump Control Circuit [10/2022 - ]

    Result:

    See step  5

  5. CHECK MISFIRE COUNT OF DIRECT INJECTION

    Pre-procedure1

    • Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 80°C (176°F) or higher.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List

      Tester Display
      Coolant Temperature
    • According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List with the Active Test "Control the Injection Mode" set to Direct.

Powertrain > Engine > Active Test

      Active Test Display
      Control the Injection Mode
      Data List Display
      Injection Mode
      Misfire Count Cylinder #1
      Misfire Count Cylinder #2
      Misfire Count Cylinder #3
      Misfire Count Cylinder #4

      Result

Injection Mode Misfire Count Proceed to
Direct There are no misfire counts A
3 cylinders or more have misfire counts
1 or 2 cylinders have misfire counts B

    Post-procedure1

  8. READ VALUE USING GTS (FUEL PRESSURE (HIGH))

    Pre-procedure1

    • Discharge the fuel pressure.

      HINT:

DTCs may be stored during this inspection. Check for DTCs and clear them using the GTS.

      1. Disconnect the fuel pump (for low pressure side) connector.
      2. Disconnect the fuel (engine room side) pump assembly (for high pressure side) connector.
      3. Start the engine.
      4. After the engine has stopped on its own, turn the ignition switch off.

        HINT:

If the engine does not stop naturally, perform direct injection by racing the engine to reduce the fuel pressure [Fuel Pressure (High)] and stop the engine.

      5. Crank the engine again and make sure that the engine does not start.
      6. Connect the fuel (engine room side) pump assembly (for high pressure side) connector.
      7. Connect the fuel pump (for low pressure side) connector.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List

      Tester Display

      HINT:

Use the snapshot function to record the value displayed or make a note of it.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Start the engine.
    • Read the change in the Data List item "Fuel Pressure (High)" after discharging the fuel system pressure and after starting the engine.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List

      Tester Display
