DTC P011A-62: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1/2 Signal Compare Failure; DTC P111A-62: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1/3 Signal Compare Failure [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Lexus RX 350, 2024 Lexus RX 350, and 2023 Lexus RX 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. READ OUTPUT DTC (DTC P011A-62 AND/OR P11AA-62)
    1. Read the DTCs.

Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P011A-62 and P111A-62 are output A
      P011A-62 is output B
      P111A-62 is output C
    2. Record the Freeze Frame Data.

      HINT:

      • When the engine is cold, the value of the engine coolant temperature sensor (for water inlet housing side), engine coolant temperature sensor (for cylinder head side) and engine coolant temperature sensor (for outlet side) should be approximately the same.
      • If only one of the sensors has deviating output values, this sensor may be malfunctioning.

    Result:

    See step  3

    Result:

    See step  4

    Result:

    See step  2

  2. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (FOR WATER INLET HOUSING SIDE)

    HINT:

Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

    Result

    Proceed to
    NEXT

    Result:

    NEXT

    See step  5

  3. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (FOR OUTLET SIDE)

    HINT:

Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    Result

    Proceed to
    NEXT

    Result:

    NEXT

    See step  5

  4. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (FOR CYLINDER HEAD SIDE)

    HINT:

Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

    Result

    Proceed to
    NEXT

    Result:

    NEXT

    See step  5

  5. CLEAR DTC

    Pre-procedure1

    • None.
    • Clear the DTCs.

Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    Result:

    NEXT

    See step  6

  6. READ VALUE USING GTS (COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR)

    Pre-procedure1

    • Start the engine and fully warm up the engine with the air conditioning off until the electric cooling fan starts to operate.
    • Read the Data List, when the engine is fully warmed up.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List

      Tester Display
      Coolant Temperature Sensor1
      Coolant Temperature Sensor2
      Coolant Temperature Sensor3

      Standard

      GTS Display Condition Specified Condition
Difference between Coolant Temperature Sensor1 and Coolant Temperature Sensor2 After fully warming up Within 20°C (36°F)
Difference between Coolant Temperature Sensor1 and Coolant Temperature Sensor3

      HINT:

The engine can be judged as fully warmed up after warming up the engine with the air conditioning off until the electric cooling fan starts to operate.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    Result:
