Removal [08/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH 

    for HEV Model: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [10/2022 - 10/2024] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [10/2024 - ]

    for PHEV Model: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH 

    for HEV Model: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [10/2022 - 10/2024] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [10/2024 - ]

    for PHEV Model: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    for HEV Model: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2022 - 10/2024] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2024 - ]

    for PHEV Model: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  5. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR

      *1 Exhaust Pipe Gas Control Actuator - -
      *a Protective Tape *b Exhaust Gas Control Valve
      *c No. 1 Outlet Water Pipe *d No. 2 Outlet Water Pipe
      *e Inlet Water Pipe - -
      1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, secure the exhaust gas control valve in the open position as shown in the illustration.
      2. Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly and exhaust pipe gas control actuator gasket.
        NOTE:
        • When removing the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly, use caution because engine coolant may spill out from the exhaust heat recirculation system.
        • Do not apply any excessive force to the No. 1 outlet water pipe, No. 2 outlet water pipe and inlet water pipe when removing the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly.
      3. While closing No. 2 outlet water pipe, apply compressed air to inlet water pipe to remove the exhaust pipe gas control actuator shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        Use a piece of cloth to catch the exhaust pipe gas control actuator.
