Motor Resolver Circuit [08/2023 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Lexus RX 450h+ and 2024 Lexus RX 450h+. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY - MOTOR RESOLVER)
    WARNING:

Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the hybrid motor control inverter assembly connector.

    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      B81-5 (MRF) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      B81-6 (MRFG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      B81-1 (MSN) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      B81-2 (MSNG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      B81-5 (MRF) - B81-6 (MRFG) Ignition switch off 8.9 to 14.9 Ω Ω
      B81-1 (MSN) - B81-2 (MSNG) Ignition switch off 16.2 to 28.1 Ω Ω
      B81-4 (MCS) - B81-3 (MCSG) Ignition switch off 18.2 to 30.1 Ω Ω

      HINT:

To correct the variation of the measured resistance due to temperature, use the following formula to calculate the resistance at 20°C (68°F).

      R20 = Rt / {1 + 0.00393 X (T - 20)}

The calculation is based on the following:

      R20: Resistance at 20°C (68°F) (mΩ)

      Rt: Measured resistance (mΩ)

T: Temperature when the resistance is measured (°C (°F).)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
B81-5 (MRF) or B81-6 (MRFG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
B81-1 (MSN) or B81-2 (MSNG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
B81-4 (MCS) or B81-3 (MCSG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
