DTC P0ADD-15: Hybrid/EV Battery Negative Contactor Circuit Short to Auxiliary Battery or Open [08/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (SMRG STATUS)

    • Read the Data List.

    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      C59-27 (SMRG) - Body ground Ignition switch off 20.6 to 40.8 Ω Ω

    • Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRES) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Connect the SST.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [08/2023 - ]

    • Disconnect the No. 2 traction battery device box assembly connector.

    • Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      C59-27 (SMRG) or o17-1 (SMRG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch ON (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector and the No. 2 traction battery device box assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    • Reconnect the No. 2 traction battery device box assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the SST.

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Connect the SST.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [08/2023 - ]

    • Disconnect the No. 2 traction battery device box assembly connector.

    • Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
