DTC C0512-14: Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Ground or Open [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (MOMENTARY INTERRUPTION) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Select the line graph display on the GTS.
    • Check for any momentary interruption in the wire harness and connector.

      HINT: 

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [10/2022 - ]

  3. INSPECT REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Disconnect the hH1 rear skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    • Disconnect the h3 rear skid control sensor RH connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      h3-2 (WSS+) - hH1-4 (RR+) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      h3-2 (WSS+) or hH1-4 (RR+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY) - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the A31 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      hH1-4 (RR+) - A31-20 (RR+) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      hH1-4 (RR+) or A31-20 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (SENSOR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Reconnect the A31 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    • Reconnect the hH1 rear skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      h3-2 (WSS+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V V

    REPLACE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 08/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

  6. INSPECT REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Disconnect the hH1 rear skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    • Disconnect the h3 rear skid control sensor RH connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      h3-1 (WSS+) - hH1-4 (RR+) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      h3-1 (WSS+) or hH1-4 (RR+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      The connector is securely connected.

    • Disconnect the A31 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
