DTC C0512-12: Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Short to Battery [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE SPECIFICATION 
    1. Check the vehicle specification.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the h3 rear skid control sensor RH connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      h3-2 (WSS+) - h3-1 (WSS-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 08/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

    NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the h3 rear skid control sensor RH connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      h3-1 (WSS+) - h3-2 (WSS-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V V

    Post-procedure1

    REPLACE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Disconnect the hH1 rear skid control sensor wire RH (No. 1 parking brake wire assembly) connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    Pre-procedure3

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      hH1-4 (RR+) - hH1-3 (RR-) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V V

    REPLACE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Disconnect the A31 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    • Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      hH1-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always Below 1.5 V V

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY) - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      hH1-4 (RR+) or A31-20 (RR+) - hH1-3 (RR-) or A31-19 (RR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]
