Caution / Notice / Hint

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Lexus RX 450h+, 2025 Lexus RX 350h, 2024 Lexus RX 450h+, 2024 Lexus RX 350h, and 2023 Lexus RX 350h. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during shift control actuator assembly removal/installation are shown below.

NECESSARY PROCEDURES AFTER PARTS REMOVED/INSTALLED/REPLACED

Replaced Part or Performed Procedure Necessary Procedure Effect/Inoperative Function when Necessary Procedure not Performed Link
Replacement of shift control actuator assembly (Shift actuator ECU)* Perform actuator position learning
  • Shift position not correctly changing
  • Shift position indicator not illuminating or displaying the incorrect drive state
Refer to UTILITY [10/2022 - ]

*: Even when not replacing the part, it is necessary to perform the specified necessary procedures after installation.

NOTE:
  • Turn the ignition switch off and wait 5 minutes or more before performing work in order to allow the integration capacitor (integration control supply) to perform an internal self-diagnosis and for voltage to discharge before disconnecting wiring that supplies power to parts from the integration capacitor (integration control supply) or removing the integration capacitor (integration control supply).
  • When the shift control actuator assembly is replaced or removed, always perform ACT position learning.

If not performed, it may not be possible to correctly change the shift position, the shift position indicator display and operation status may differ, the shift indicator may not illuminate or other malfunctions may occur.

  • After the shift control actuator assembly is installed, there are cases where the ACT position learning completion status displays that learning has been completed. However, this is information from before parts were removed so be sure to always perform ACT position learning.
  • Be sure to change to all shift positions and confirm the following items when work is complete.
    • The shift position indicator illuminates according to the shift position.
    • The vehicle does not move with the shift position in P (perform with the parking brake released).
    • No drive torque is generated with the shift position in N.
    • Drive torque is generated with the shift position in D or R.
