DTC P162B-87: Lost Communication with Battery Monitor Module Missing Message [08/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION CONDITION 

    HINT: 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [08/2023 - ]

    NG 

    INSTALL BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY. Refer to  INSTALLATION [08/2023 - ]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    HINT: 

    Refer to the electronic circuit inspection procedure.

    Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [10/2022 - ]

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Check that the battery state sensor assembly connector is securely connected.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    • Disconnect the H37 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    • Check the connector case and terminals for deformation or corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      H37-3 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V V

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY - AUXILIARY BATTERY)

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 

    HINT: 

    Refer to the electronic circuit inspection procedure.

    Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [10/2022 - ]

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the A21 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    • Disconnect the H37 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the B35 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      A21-16 (LIN3) - H37-2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      A21-16 (LIN3), H37-2 (LIN) or B35-3 (DOUT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY)

  4. CHECK FOR DTCS 
    1. Check for DTCs, and note down any DTCs that are output.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

  5. CLEAR DTCS 

    Pre-procedure1

    • None
    • Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs

    • Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

  6. CHECK FOR DTCS (AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM) 
    1. Check for DTCs, and note down any DTCs that are output.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes

  7. CLEAR DTCS (AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM)

    • None
    • Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Clear DTCs

    • Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

  8. CHECK FOR DTCS

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and wait for 17 minutes or more.
    • Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

  9. CHECK FOR DTCS (AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes
