DTC P0070-15: Ambient Temperature Sensor Circuit Short to Battery or Open [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR (THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY) CIRCUIT 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the A11 ambient temp. sensor (thermistor assembly) connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Ambient Temp. Sensor (Thermistor Assembly))
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      A11-2 (+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 0 to 5.5 V V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Clear DTCs

  3. CHECK FOR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the A11 ambient temp. sensor (thermistor assembly) connector.

      (to Ambient Temp. Sensor (Thermistor Assembly))
    • Connect terminals 1 and 2 of the ambient temp. sensor (thermistor assembly) connector on the wire harness side.

      *1 Ambient Temp. Sensor (Thermistor Assembly)
      *2 Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 4 seconds or more.
    • Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      P0070-11 is output A
      P0070-15 is output B

    • None

    REPLACE AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR (THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR (THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY)) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the A11 ambient temp. sensor (thermistor assembly) connector.
    • Disconnect the C48 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      A11-2 (+) - C48-1 (TAM) Always Below 1 Ω Ω
      A11-1 (-) - C48-14 (SG-2) Always Below 1 Ω Ω

      OK
      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result:

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR (THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY)) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the A11 ambient temp. sensor (thermistor assembly) connector.
    • Disconnect the C48 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      A11-2 (+) or C48-1 (TAM) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher kΩ

      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • None
