DTC P0A96-96: Hybrid/EV Battery Cooling Fan 2 Component Internal Failure; DTC P0A96-98: Hybrid/EV Battery Cooling Fan 2 Component or System Over Temperature [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • None.
    • Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0AFC-00, P0AFC-96 or P308A-12 is not output A
      P0AFC-00, P0AFC-96 or P308A-12 is output B

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2022 - 10/2024]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2024 - ]

  2. CHECK DUCT AND BLOWER 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Check that the No. 1 HV battery intake filter, No. 2 battery cooling blower assembly, No. 1 hybrid battery intake duct and No. 2 hybrid battery intake duct are not disconnected, damaged, or clogged with foreign matter.

      *1 No. 1 HV Battery Intake Filter *2 No. 2 Battery Cooling Blower Assembly
      *3 No. 1 Hybrid Battery Intake Duct *4 No. 2 Hybrid Battery Intake Duct

      OK

      The No. 1 HV battery intake filter, No. 1 hybrid battery intake duct, No. 2 hybrid battery intake duct and No. 2 battery cooling blower assembly are not disconnected, damaged, or clogged with foreign matter.

  5. CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE SENSOR (GROUND SHORT CHECK)

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
