Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (SPORT SHIFT SWITCH STATUS) 
    1. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List

      Sport Shift Up SW Sport shift up switch status ON or OFF
      • ON: "+" shift paddle switch operated
      • OFF: "+" shift paddle switch released

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the A16 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A16-31 (SFTU) - A16-47 (EPPM) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A16-30 (SFTD) - A16-47 (EPPM) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A16-31 (SFTU) - A16-47 (EPPM) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A16-30 (SFTD) - A16-47 (EPPM) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A16 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A16-9 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the C165 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A16 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A16-31 (SFTU) - C165-8 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A16-30 (SFTD) - C165-1 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A16-47 (EPPM) - C165-2 (ECC) Always Below 1 Ω
      A16-31 (SFTU) or C165-8 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A16-30 (SFTD) or C165-1 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A16-47 (EPPM) or C165-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM)

  5. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2022 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 08/2023]  Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

  6. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch LH (transmission shift switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch LH (Transmission Shift Switch Assembly))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-1 (SDN) - A-2 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A-1 (SDN) - A-3 (ECC1) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A-1 (SDN) - A-2 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A-1 (SDN) - A-3 (ECC1) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  7. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch RH (transmission shift switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      B-1 (SUP) - B-2 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      B-1 (SUP) - B-2 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  8. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the transmission shift switch assembly.

      (to Spiral Cable Sub-assembly)

      Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2022 - ]

    2. Disconnect the z7 No. 1 switch wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z7-2 (SUP) - z7-3 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-4 (SDN) - z7-3 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-2 (SUP) - z7-3 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z7-4 (SDN) - z7-3 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result
