DTC P0520-24: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch "A" Signal Stuck High; DTC P0520-2A: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch "A" Signal Stuck in Range [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Lexus RX 350, 2024 Lexus RX 350, and 2023 Lexus RX 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0520-24 OR P0520-2A)
    1. Read the DTCs.

Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      Result

      Result Proceed to
P0520-24 or P0520-2A and other DTCs are output A
      P0520-24 or P0520-2A is output B

      HINT:

If any DTCs other than P0520-24 or P0520-2A are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Result:

GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2022 - 08/2023]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2023 - 10/2024]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2024 - ]

  2. INSPECT OIL PRESSURE SENSOR (OIL PRESSURE SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY)

    Pre-procedure1

    • Read the value displayed on the GTS.
      1. Disconnect the oil pressure control valve assembly connector.
      2. Start the engine.
      3. With the engine oil temperature at 75 to 85°C (167 to 185°F), read the "Engine Oil Pressure" with the engine speed at 2000 rpm.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List

      1. Install the oil pressure gauge with adapter.
        WARNING:

Removing the oil pressure sender gauge assembly while the engine is hot could result in burns caused by contact with hot engine oil.

        NOTE:

Clean the hose and adapter of the oil pressure gauge before and after measurement.

      2. Start the engine.
      3. With the engine oil temperature at 75 to 85°C (167 to 185°F), read the oil pressure gauge with the engine speed at 2000 rpm.
    • Compare the Data List value and the oil pressure gauge reading.

      OK

Data List value and gauge reading are within +/-50 kPa (7.3 psi) of each other

      HINT:

Be sure to clear the DTCs after reinstalling the oil pressure sensor (oil pressure sender gauge assembly) or reconnecting the oil pressure sensor (oil pressure sender gauge assembly) or oil pressure control valve assembly connector, as DTCs may be stored.
