DTC P19CF-62: Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Temperature Sensor System Signal Compare Failure [08/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV BATTERY) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "P19CF-62" only is output. A
      DTCs except "P19CF-62" of hybrid battery system are output. B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2023 - ]

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 

    HINT: 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. CHECK NO. 1 AIR CONDITIONING THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY (DUCT INLET 1, DUCT INLET 2) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Connect the SST.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [08/2023 - ]

    • Disconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    • Measure the resistance of the circuit for the malfunctioning sensor.

      Tester Connection

      o4-1 (TRF0) - o4-2 (GRF0) Duct Inlet 1

      Standard Resistance

      10 to 20°C (50 to 68°F) Ignition switch off 2.574 to 3.957 kΩ
      20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F) Ignition switch off 1.752 to 2.660 kΩ
      30 to 40°C (86 to 104°F) Ignition switch off 1.222 to 1.831 kΩ
      40 to 50°C (104 to 122°F) Ignition switch off 0.869 to 1.285 kΩ

    • Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      o4-1 (TRF0) - Body ground and other terminals (except o4-2 (GRF0)) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      o4-2 (GRF0) - Body ground and other terminals (except o4-1 (TRF0)) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      o4-19 (TRF2) - Body ground and other terminals (except o4-20 (GRF2)) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      o4-20 (GRF2) - Body ground and other terminals (except o4-19 (TRF2)) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      o4-1 (TRF0) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      o4-2 (GRF0) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      o4-19 (TRF2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      o4-20 (GRF2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      NOTE:
      • Turning the ignition switch to ON with the service plug grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
      • If the ignition switch is turned to ON with the connectors disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. Be sure to clear the DTCs after the inspection.

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the SST.

  4. CHECK NO. 2 AIR CONDITIONING THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY (DUCT OUTLET 1, DUCT OUTLET 2) 
    WARNING:

      NOTE:

    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      NOTE:

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the SST.

    REPLACE BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 AIR CONDITIONING THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY (DUCT OUTLET 1, DUCT OUTLET 2) - BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Connect the SST.

    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      o4-7 (GRF1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V

      NOTE:

    • Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the SST.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 2 AIR CONDITIONING THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 AIR CONDITIONING THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY (DUCT INLET 1, DUCT INLET 2) - BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.
