Shut Down Signal Circuit [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    Pre-procedure1

    • None.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      - -

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      A21-9 (HSDN) - C59-1 (E1) Ignition switch ON Below 4.5 V V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    OK 

    SHUTDOWN SIGNAL CIRCUIT NORMAL (PERFORM NEXT STEP FOR REFERENCED DTC) 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - HYBRID MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the hybrid motor control inverter assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      A41-6 (HSDN) or A21-9 (HSDN) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V V
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the hybrid vehicle control ECU and hybrid motor control inverter assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    Pre-procedure2

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      A41-6 (HSDN) - A41-36 (+B) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A41-6 (HSDN) - A41-35 (+B2) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A21-9 (HSDN) - C59-8 (+B1) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A21-9 (HSDN) - A21-10 (+B2) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A21-9 (HSDN) - C59-10 (MREL) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    • Reconnect the hybrid motor control inverter assembly connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HYBRID MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the hybrid motor control inverter assembly connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    • Reconnect the hybrid motor control inverter assembly connector.
