Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS SHIFT UP SIGNAL, SPORTS SHIFT DOWN SIGNAL) 
    1. Read the Data List using the GTS.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Shift UP Signal
      Sports Shift DOWN Signal

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Sports Shift UP Signal Sports shift UP signal ON or OFF ON:
      Shift paddle switch RH (+) operated
      OFF:
      Shift paddle switch RH (+) not operated
      Sports Shift DOWN Signal Sport shift DOWN signal ON or OFF ON:
      Shift paddle switch LH (-) operated
      OFF:
      Shift paddle switch LH (-) not operated

    2. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift paddle switch (transmission shift switch assembly) is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C59-31 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift paddle switch RH (+) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      C59-18 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift paddle switch LH (-) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      C59-31 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift paddle switch RH (+) not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      C59-18 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift paddle switch LH (-) not operated 1 MΩ or higher

    3. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C165-8 (SUP) - C59-31 (SFTU) Always Below 1 Ω
      C165-1 (SDN) - C59-18 (SFTD) Always Below 1 Ω
      C165-2 (ECC) -C59-43 (CCSG) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C165-8 (SUP) or C59-31 (SFTU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C165-1 (SDN) or C59-18 (SFTD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG
    4. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Reconnect the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [10/2022 - ]

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 08/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

  5. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (NO. 1 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [10/2022 - ]

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (NO. 1 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 08/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

    OK

  6. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (NO. 2 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [10/2022 - ]

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (NO. 2 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 08/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

  7. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift paddle switch (transmission shift switch assembly) is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      z7-4 (SDN) - z7-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch LH (-) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-2 (SUP) - z7-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch RH (+) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-4 (SDN) - z7-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch LH (-) not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z7-2 (SUP) - z7-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch RH (+) not operated 1 MΩ or higher
    3. Reconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector.

      Result
