On-Vehicle Inspection [10/2022 - ]: Procedure
- INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Intercooler)
Pre-procedure1
- Remove the reserve tank cap (for Intercooler).
- Fill the intercooler reserve tank with coolant, and then attach the radiator cap tester.
- Warm up the engine.
- Using the radiator cap tester, increase the pressure inside the intercooler cooling radiator assembly to 123 kPa (1.3 kgf/cm2
, 18 psi), and then check that the pressure does not drop.
If the pressure drops, check the hoses, intercooler cooling radiator assembly, intercooler assembly, turbocharger assembly and electric water pump assembly for leakage.
If there are no signs of external coolant leaks, check the intercooler assembly and turbocharger assembly.
Post-procedure1
- Detach the radiator cap tester.
- Install the reserve tank cap (for Intercooler).
- INSPECT COOLANT LEVEL (for Intercooler)
- Check that the coolant level is between the L and F lines when the engine is cold.
If the level is low, check for leakage and add TOYOTA Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) or similar high quality ethylene glycol based non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology up to the FULL line.
NOTE:Do not substitute plain water for coolant.
*a F Line *b L Line
- Check that the coolant level is between the L and F lines when the engine is cold.
- INSPECT COOLANT QUALITY (for Intercooler)
Pre-procedure1
- Remove the reserve tank cap (for Intercooler).
- Check for any excessive deposits of rust or scale around the reserve tank cap (for Intercooler) and check that the coolant is free of oil.
If the coolant is excessively dirty, replace the coolant.
Post-procedure1
- Install the reserve tank cap (for Intercooler).
