Inspection [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT PURGE VALVE (NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 23 to 26 Ω Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the purge valve (No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly).

    2. Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the purge valve (No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly) and check that the following occurs when blowing air into the port (E).

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Air flows from port (F)
      Battery voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 Air does not flow

      If the result is not as specified, replace the purge valve (No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly).

  2. INSPECT NO. 1 CHECK VALVE 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Install a clean hose to the No. 1 check valve.
    • Check the operation of the No. 1 check valve.
      1. Blow air into the purge valve (No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly) side and check that air passes through easily.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 1 check valve.

        WARNING:

        Do not suck air through the No. 1 check valve.

        Petroleum substances inside the No. 1 check valve are hazardous to your health.

      2. Blow air into the intake manifold side and check that air passes through with difficulty.
