Removal [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE EARTH BOLT CAP

  2. DISCONNECT NO. 2 EARTH WIRE

  3. REMOVE CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side)

      1. Remove the bolt.
      2. Disconnect the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
      3. Using an 8 mm socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts and cam timing oil control solenoid assembly from the No. 2 timing gear cover assembly.
        NOTE:

        If the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  4. REMOVE CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side)

      1. Disconnect the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
      2. Using an 8 mm socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts and cam timing oil control solenoid assembly from the No. 2 timing gear cover assembly.
        NOTE:

        If the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  5. REMOVE CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID O-RING 
    HINT: 
    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the cam timing oil control solenoid O-ring is necessary.

      1. Remove the cam timing oil control solenoid O-ring from the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly.
        NOTE:
        • When removing the cam timing oil control solenoid O-ring, be careful not to damage the O-ring groove of the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly.
        • If the O-ring groove of the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly is damaged, replace the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly with a new one.
