Installation [09/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Make sure that the manual valve lever shaft has not been rotated prior to installing the park/neutral position switch assembly as the detent spring may become detached from the manual valve lever shaft.

    1. Clean the bolt and bolt hole.
    2. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads on the end of the bolt.

      Adhesive

      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent

    3. Temporarily install the park/neutral position switch assembly to the automatic transmission with transfer assembly with the bolt.

      HINT: 

      Tighten the bolt to the specified torque when adjusting the park/neutral position switch assembly.

    4. Install a new lock washer and the lock nut to the park/neutral position switch assembly.

      Torque: 6.9 N.m (70 kgf/cm, 61 in.lbf) 

    5. Turn the transmission control shaft lever LH clockwise until it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches.

    6. Align the neutral basic line with the groove as shown in the illustration.

    7. Hold the park/neutral position switch assembly in that position and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 12.8 N.m (131 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

    8. Using a screwdriver, bend down the tabs of the lock washer.

      HINT: 

      Bend at least 2 of the lock washer tabs.

    9. Connect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
  2. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the transmission control shaft lever LH clockwise until it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches.

    2. Connect the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly to the lever of the transmission floor shift assembly.

      Rear of the vehicle
    3. Temporarily install the nut to the lever of the transmission floor shift assembly.
    4. Tighten the nut while lightly pushing the lever of the transmission floor shift assembly toward the rear of the vehicle.

      Torque: 12.8 N.m (131 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Do not push the lever of the transmission floor shift assembly too hard.

  3. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  4. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to INSTALLATION [11/2017 - ]

  5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION 

    See step  1

  6. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY OPERATION 

    See step  1

  7. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [09/2014 - 11/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [11/2017 - ]
