Headlight Beam Level Control Actuator Circuit [09/2014 - 10/2018]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / HL AutoLeveling / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > HL AutoLeveling > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Drive The Leveling Motor Leveling motor upward or downward operation Stop/Down/Up Perform the Active Test with the engine started and vehicle stopped

      Body Electrical > HL AutoLeveling > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Drive The Leveling Motor

      OK

      Both headlight leveling motor LH and RH operate normally.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (for LH Side) B
      NG (for RH Side) C

    Result: 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2014 - 10/2018]

  2. INSPECT HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the headlight assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 10/2018]

    2. Remove the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 10/2018]

    3. Disconnect the headlight leveling motor LH connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Headlight Unit Assembly LH)
      - -

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      LVL-1 - F-17 Always Below 1 Ω
      LVL-2 - F-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      LVL-3 - F-20 Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [09/2014 - 10/2018]

  3. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR LH 
    1. Replace the headlight leveling motor LH with a new or known good one.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [09/2014 - 10/2018]

    2. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > HL AutoLeveling > Active Test

      Drive The Leveling Motor Leveling motor upward or downward operation Stop/Down/Up Perform the Active Test with the engine started and vehicle stopped

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT LIGHT CONTROL ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2014 - 10/2018] 

  4. INSPECT HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the headlight assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 10/2018]

    2. Remove the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 10/2018]

    3. Disconnect the headlight leveling motor RH connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [09/2014 - 10/2018]

  5. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR RH 
    1. Replace the headlight leveling motor RH with a new or known good one.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [09/2014 - 10/2018]

    2. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
