Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [09/2014 - 11/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A71 ECM connector.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A71-8 (SFTU) - Body ground "+" (up-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "+" (up-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A71-7 (SFTD) - Body ground "-" (down-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (down-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2014 - 11/2017]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the O25 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      (to Spiral Cable Sub-assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O25-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [09/2014 - 11/2017]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - 11/2017]

    OK

  4. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 11/2017]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch LH (Transmission Shift Switch Assembly))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B-1 (SDN) - B-2 (ECC) "-" (down-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (down-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - 11/2017]

  5. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch assembly.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch RH (Transmission Shift Switch Assembly))

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 11/2017]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-3 (SUP) - A-2 (ECC) "+" (up-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "+" (up-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - 11/2017]

  6. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the transmission shift switch assembly.

      (No. 1 Switch Wire)
    2. Disconnect the z6 No. 1 switch wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z6-1 (SUP) - z6-3 (ECC) "+" (up-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "+" (up-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z6-2 (SDN) - z6-3 (ECC) "-" (down-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (down-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE. Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - 11/2017]

  7. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the z6 No. 1 switch wire connector to the steering pad switch assembly.

      (Steering Pad Switch Assembly)
    2. Disconnect the z4 steering pad switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z4-6 (SUP) - z4-7 (ECC) "+" (up-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "+" (up-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z4-12 (SDN) - z4-7 (ECC) "-" (down-shift) shift paddle operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (down-shift) shift paddle not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - 11/2017]

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the O25 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A71 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A71-8 (SFTU) - O25-14 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A71-7 (SFTD) - O25-7 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A71-8 (SFTU) or O25-14 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A71-7 (SFTD) or O25-7 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK
