Caution / Notice / Hint

NOTE:
  • Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs.

    Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 11/2017]

  • Perform registration and/or initialization when parts related to the automatic transmission are replaced.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2014 - 11/2017]

  • If DTCs P0711 and P2610 are output simultaneously, confirm that the ATF temperature is as specified in "Normal Condition" using the Techstream first. When the ATF temperature is as specified in "Normal Condition", perform troubleshooting for DTC P2610.

  • In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values.

HINT: 

After the repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.

  1. Wait for 5 hours with the engine switch off.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Drive the vehicle 27 km (16.8 miles) or more over a period of 12 minutes and 30 seconds or more.
  4. After 55 minutes or more have elapsed since performing step (2), turn the engine switch off.
  5. Perform steps (1) through (4) again.
  6. Check for DTCs again.

  1. DATA LIST 

    HINT: 

    Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Turn the engine switch off.
    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Turn the Techstream on.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / A/T Oil Temperature 1.
    7. According to the display on the Techstream, read the "Data List".

      A/T Oil Temperature 1 ATF temperature sensor value Min.: -40°C (-40°F)
      Max.: 150°C (302°F)
      • After stall test: Approximately 80°C (176°F)
      • Equal to ambient temperature when engine cold
      		 If the value is -40°C (-40°F) or 215°C (419°F), the ATF temperature sensor circuit is open or shorted.

      HINT: 

      • When DTC P0712 is output and the Data List displays 150°C (302°F) or more, there is a short circuit.

        When DTC P0713 is output and the Data List displays -40°C (-40°F), there is an open circuit.

        Measure the resistance between terminal OIL and body ground.

        Temperature Displayed Malfunction
        -40°C (-40°F) Open circuit
        150 °C (302°F) or more Short circuit
      • If a circuit related to the ATF temperature sensor becomes open, DTC P0713 will be stored in approximately 0.5 seconds. If DTC P0713 is stored, DTC P0711 cannot be detected.

        It is not necessary to inspect the circuit when DTC P0711 is output.
