Disassembly [09/2014 - 11/2017]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE 
    1. Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer lock.

      • SST: 09202-70020 
        1. 09202-00010
        2. 09202-01010
        3. 09202-01020
    2. Remove the valve spring retainer, inner compression spring and intake valve.

      HINT: 

      Arrange the removed parts in such a way that they can be reinstalled to their original locations.

  2. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE 
    1. Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer lock.

      • SST: 09202-70020 
        1. 09202-00010
        2. 09202-01010
        3. 09202-01020
    2. Remove the valve spring retainer, inner compression spring and exhaust valve.

      HINT: 

      Arrange the removed parts in such a way that they can be reinstalled to their original locations.

  3. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL 
    1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the intake valve stem oil seal.

  4. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE STEM OIL SEAL 
    1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the exhaust valve stem oil seals.
  5. REMOVE VALVE SPRING SEAT 
    1. Using compressed air and a magnet hand, remove the valve spring seats by blowing air onto them.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG 
    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 4 No. 1 straight screw plugs and 4 water hole gaskets.

      *a for Bank 1
      *b for Bank 2
      NOTE:

      If coolant leaks from a No. 1 straight screw plug or the No. 1 straight screw plug is corroded, replace it.

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG 
    1. Using a 14 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 2 No. 2 straight screw plugs and 2 screw plug gaskets.

      *a for Bank 1
      *b for Bank 2
      NOTE:

      If coolant leaks from a No. 2 straight screw plug or the No. 2 straight screw plug is corroded, replace it.

  8. REMOVE UNION 
    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to remove the union unless it is being replaced.

  9. REMOVE STUD BOLT 
    NOTE:

    If the stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.
