DTC P1603-00: Engine Stall History [10/2015 - 11/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC P1603-00 is output A
      DTCs other than P1603-00 are output B

      HINT: 

      • When DTC P1603-00 and P1605-00 are output simultaneously, perform the troubleshooting for P1605-00 first.
      • Using freeze frame data, confirm the conditions the moment the DTC was stored and after the DTC was stored. This information can be useful when troubleshooting.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2015 - 08/2016]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2016 - 11/2017]

  2. READ FREEZE FRAME DATA (ISC F/B LEARN TORQUE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Using the Techstream, confirm the vehicle conditions recorded in the freeze frame data which were present when the DTC was stored.

      Refer to FREEZE FRAME DATA [10/2015 - 11/2017]

      Result

      ISC F/B Learn Torque Less than 15 Nm - Go to the next step A
      15 Nm or higher Throttle body with motor assembly Go to ENGINE STALLS (from step 11) B

    Result: 

    GO TO ENGINE STALLS. Refer to  Engine Stalls [10/2015 - 11/2017]

  3. READ FREEZE FRAME DATA (A/F (O2) SENSOR VOLTAGE B1S1, SHORT FT BANK 1 AND LONG FT BANK 1) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Using the Techstream, confirm the vehicle conditions recorded in the freeze frame data which were present when the DTC was stored.

      Refer to FREEZE FRAME DATA [10/2015 - 11/2017]

      Less than 2.8 V, or 3.8 V or higher Less than -15%, or 15% or higher Less than -15%, or 15% or higher
      • Mass air flow meter sub-assembly
      • Air fuel ratio sensor
      • Fuel pump
      Go to ENGINE STALLS (from step 15)*

      HINT: 

      *: If the value of A/F (O2) Sensor Voltage B1S1, Short FT Bank 1 or Long FT Bank 1 is as specified, malfunction of a component listed in the "Suspected Area" column of the table is suspected.
