Removal [09/2020 - ]: Procedure

- REMOVE NO. 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE CANISTER (CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY)
- Disconnect the No. 2 charcoal canister hose from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
*1 No. 2 Charcoal Canister Hose *2 Pipe (Canister (Charcoal Canister Assembly)) *a Pinch *b Pull *c Retainer *d Tab *e Tube Connector *f O-Ring NOTE:- Remove any dirt or foreign matter on the tube connector before performing this work.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign matter to get on the parts when disconnecting them as the tube connector has an O-ring that seals the pipe (canister (charcoal canister assembly)).
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the No. 2 charcoal canister hose.
- Protect the disconnected parts by covering them with plastic bags after disconnecting the No. 2 charcoal canister hose.
- If the tube connector and pipe (canister (charcoal canister assembly)) are stuck, push and pull to release them.
HINT:
Do not remove the retainer.
- Pinch the tabs of the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull the retainer out as shown in the illustration.
- Pull off the No. 2 charcoal canister hose.
- Disconnect the vent line hose from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
*1 Vent Line Hose *2 Pipe (Canister (Charcoal Canister Assembly)) *a Pinch *b Pull *c Retainer *d Tab *e Tube Connector *f O-Ring NOTE:- Remove any dirt or foreign matter on the tube connector before performing this work.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign matter to get on the parts when disconnecting them as the tube connector has an O-ring that seals the pipe (canister (charcoal canister assembly)).
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the vent line hose.
- Protect the disconnected parts by covering them with plastic bags after disconnecting the vent line hose.
- If the tube connector and pipe (canister (charcoal canister assembly)) are stuck, push and pull to release them.
HINT:
Do not remove the retainer.
- Pinch the tabs of the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull the retainer out as shown in the illustration.
- Pull off the vent line hose.
- Slide the clip and disconnect the purge line hose.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
*1 Charcoal Canister Outlet Guide - Disengage the charcoal canister outlet guide and disconnect the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
- Disengage the claw and remove the canister (charcoal canister assembly) from vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
- Remove the charcoal canister outlet guide from the vehicle body.
- Disconnect the No. 2 charcoal canister hose from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).
- REMOVE NO. 2 CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the charcoal canister filter hose from the leak detection pump sub-assembly.
*1 Charcoal Canister Filter Hose *2 Pipe (Leak Detection Pump Sub-assembly) *a Pinch *b Pull *c Retainer *d Tab *e Tube Connector *f O-Ring NOTE:- Remove any dirt or foreign matter on the tube connector before performing this work.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign matter to get on the parts when disconnecting them as the tube connector has an O-ring that seals the pipe (leak detection pump sub-assembly).
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the charcoal canister filter hose.
- Protect the disconnected parts by covering them with plastic bags after disconnecting the charcoal canister filter hose.
- If the tube connector and pipe (leak detection pump sub-assembly) are stuck, push and pull to release them.
HINT:
Do not remove the retainer.
- Pinch the tabs of the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull the retainer out as shown in the illustration.
- Pull off the charcoal canister filter hose.
- Disconnect the leak detection pump sub-assembly connector.
- Remove the 2 nuts and No. 2 charcoal canister assembly.
- Disconnect the charcoal canister filter hose from the leak detection pump sub-assembly.
- REMOVE LEAK DETECTION PUMP SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT:
Only perform this procedure when replacement of the leak detection pump sub-assembly is necessary.
- Before removing the leak detection pump sub-assembly, clean the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly by blowing air into it to ensure that the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly is free of foreign matter.NOTE:
- Make sure to clean the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly using air only.
- Do not use gasoline, thinners or solvents.
- While disengaging the 2 claws as shown in the illustration, push the leak detection pump sub-assembly upwards using a screwdriver to remove it.
*a Protective Tape HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Check if the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly contains foreign matter such as mud or water.
- Visually check that the inside of the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly is free of foreign matter.
- Hold the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly upside down to make sure that it is free of foreign matter.
If the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly contains foreign matter, replace the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly.
- Visually check that the inside of the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly is free of foreign matter.
- Before removing the leak detection pump sub-assembly, clean the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly by blowing air into it to ensure that the No. 2 charcoal canister assembly is free of foreign matter.
- REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER FILTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly from the charcoal canister filter sub-assembly.

- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly.
- Protect the disconnected parts by covering them with plastic bags after disconnecting the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly.
- If the tube connector and pipe (charcoal canister filter sub-assembly) are stuck, push and pull to release them.
HINT:
Do not remove the retainer.
- Pinch the tabs of the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull the retainer out as shown in the illustration.
- Pull off the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly.
- Remove the bolt and charcoal canister filter sub-assembly.
- Disconnect the charcoal canister outlet tube sub-assembly from the charcoal canister filter sub-assembly.
