Inspection [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE (AIR BY-PASS VALVE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Check the operation.
      1. Press and release the plunger of the intake air control valve (air by-pass valve assembly) and check that it quickly returns to its original position.
        NOTE:

        Make sure that no foreign matter is stuck to the plunger seal of the intake air control valve (air by-pass valve assembly) and that the plunger seal is not damaged.

        If the plunger does not quickly return to its original position, replace the intake air control valve (air by-pass valve assembly).

    2. Inspect the resistance.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 8.7 to 9.2 Ω

        If the result is not as specified, replace the intake air control valve (air by-pass valve assembly).
