1. Clean the rear door panel protector surface.

   1. Using a heat light, heat the double-sided tape remaining on the rear door panel protector and rear door No. 5 weatherstrip.

   WARNING:

   • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts, touching the heat light may result in burns.
   • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

   NOTE:

   Do not heat the rear door panel protector excessively.

   2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear door panel protector.

   3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

2. Install a new rear door No. 5 weatherstrip.

   1. Using a heat light, heat the rear door panel protector surface.

   2. Remove the release paper from the rear door No. 5 weatherstrip.

   HINT: 

   After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

   3. Engage the 6 clamps to install the rear door No. 5 weatherstrip as shown in the illustration.

   HINT: 

   • Apply the rear door No. 5 weatherstrip along the line marked on the rear door outside rear lower moulding.
   • Press the rear door No. 5 weatherstrip firmly to install it.

Cleaning Area

Primer

1. Clean the rear door outside rear lower moulding surface.

   1. Using a heat light, heat the double-sided tape remaining on the rear door outside rear lower moulding and No. 1 rear door moulding pad.

   • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts, touching the heat light may result in burns.
   • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

   NOTE:

   Do not heat the rear door outside rear lower moulding excessively.

   2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear door outside rear lower moulding.

   3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

2. Apply primer to vehicle body on the installation area of the No. 1 rear door moulding pad.

   1. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the No. 1 rear door moulding pad installation area.

   NOTE:

   • Replace the brush or felt if it is dirty or has become hardened.
   • Do not apply primer to the painted side.
   • Do not touch the rear door outside rear lower moulding until the primer has dried.

   2. Let the primer dry sufficiently.

   NOTE:

   Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

   Recommended drying time

   10 minutes or more (at 23°C (73°F))

   3. Confirm that the primer has completely dried by touching the rear door outside rear lower moulding. Then remove the tape.

Standard Measurement

1. Install a new No. 1 rear door moulding pad.

   1. Using a heat light, heat the rear door outside rear lower moulding surface.

   2. Remove the release paper from the No. 1 rear door moulding pad.

   HINT: 

   After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

   3. Install the No. 1 rear door moulding pad as shown in the illustration.

   HINT: 

   • Apply the No. 1 rear door moulding pad along the scribed line on the rear door outside rear lower moulding.
   • Press the No. 1 rear door moulding pad firmly to install it.
