Reassembly [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH PROTECTOR

      Cleaning Area Primer
      1. Clean the back door outside garnish surface.

        1. Using a heat light, heat the double-sided tape remaining on the back door outside garnish and 2 back door outside garnish protectors.

        HEATING TEMPERATURE

        Area Temperature Area Temperature
        Back Door Garnish 20 to 30 °C (68 to 86 °F) Back Door Outside Garnish Protector 20 to 30 °C (68 to 86 °F)
        WARNING:
        • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts, touching the heat light may result in burns.
        • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

        NOTE:

        Do not heat the back door outside garnish excessively.

        2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the back door outside garnish.

        3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      2. Apply primer to back door outside garnish on the installation area of the 2 back door outside garnish protectors.

        1. Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the 2 back door outside garnish protectors installation area.

        NOTE:
        • Replace the brush or felt if it is dirty or has become hardened.
        • Do not apply primer to the painted side.
        • Do not touch the back door outside garnish until the primer has dried.

        2. Let the primer dry sufficiently.

        NOTE:

        Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

        Recommended drying time

        10 minutes or more (at 23°C (73°F))

        3. Confirm that the primer has completely dried by touching the back door outside garnish. Then remove the tape.

      *a Scribed Line - -
      1. Install 2 new back door outside garnish protectors.

        1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

        2. Remove the release paper from the 2 back door outside garnish protectors.

        HINT: 

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

        3. Install the 2 back door outside garnish protectors as shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        • Apply the back door outside garnish protector along the scribed line on the back door outside garnish.
        • Press the back door outside garnish protector firmly to install it.
  2. INSTALL BACK DOOR GARNISH LOWER MOULDING PROTECTOR

      Cleaning Area Primer
      1. Clean the back door outside garnish surface.

        1. Using a heat light, heat the double-sided tape remaining on the back door outside garnish and 2 back door garnish lower moulding protectors.

        1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

        2. Remove the release paper from the 2 back door garnish lower moulding protectors.

        HINT: 

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

        3. Install the 2 back door garnish lower moulding protectors as shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        • Apply the back door garnish lower moulding protector along the scribed line on the back door outside garnish.
        • Press the back door garnish lower moulding protector firmly to install it.
  3. INSTALL NO. 4 BACK DOOR NAME PLATE
