DTC P0ABF-00: Hybrid/EV Battery Current Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    3. Disconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z14-24 (IB1) - A-2 (IB1) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z14-23 (GIB) - A-10 (GIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z14-12 (IB0) - A-11 (IB0) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z14-36 (VIB) - A-1 (VIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z14-24 (IB1) or A-2 (IB1) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z14-23 (GIB) or A-10 (GIB) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z14-12 (IB0) or A-11 (IB0) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z14-36 (VIB) or A-1 (VIB) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
    6. Reconnect the No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the No. 2 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    3. Disconnect the battery current sensor connector from the HV battery junction block assembly.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-2 (IB1) - z11-2 (IB1) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      A-10 (GIB) - z11-3 (GIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      A-11 (IB0) - z11-4 (IB0) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      A-1 (VIB) - z11-1 (VIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-2 (IB1) or z11-2 (IB1) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A-10 (GIB) or z11-3 (GIB) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A-11 (IB0) or z11-4 (IB0) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A-1 (VIB) or z11-1 (VIB) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the battery current sensor connector to the HV battery junction block assembly.
    6. Reconnect the No. 2 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    3. Disconnect the battery current sensor connector from the HV battery junction block assembly.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      z14-24 (IB1) - z11-2 (IB1) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z14-23 (GIB) - z11-3 (GIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

    5. Reconnect the battery current sensor connector to the HV battery junction block assembly.
    6. Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.

  4. REPLACE HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

  6. PERFORM ROAD TEST 
    1. Check that "Hybrid/EV Battery SOC" shows 60% or less.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Hybrid/EV Battery SOC

      HINT: 

      If "Hybrid/EV Battery SOC" is 60% or more, reduce it to below 60% by leaving the hybrid system on with shift lever in N.

    2. Apply the parking brake and secure the wheels using chocks.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    4. Move the shift lever to D while depressing the brake pedal with your left foot and repeat the following steps for 1 minute or more.

      HINT: 

      Depress and release the accelerator pedal in 5-second intervals (2.5 seconds each) continuously.

      1. While depressing the brake pedal with your left foot, depress the accelerator pedal with your right foot.
      2. Release the accelerator pedal.
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

  7. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the o. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    3. Check the terminals of the male side of the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      OK

      The terminals are free of foreign matter and not damaged.

    4. Reconnect the No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    REPLACE NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    3. Check the terminals of the male side of the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      OK

      The terminals are free of foreign matter and not damaged.

    4. Reconnect the No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY AND NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    REPLACE NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]
