Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (SPORTS SHIFT UP SIGNAL, SPORTS SHIFT DOWN SIGNAL) 
    1. Read the Data List using the GTS.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Shift UP Signal
      Sports Shift DOWN Signal

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Sports Shift UP Signal Sports shift UP signal ON or OFF ON:
      Shift paddle switch RH (+) operated
      OFF:
      Shift paddle switch RH (+) not operated
      Sports Shift DOWN Signal Sport shift DOWN signal ON or OFF ON:
      Shift paddle switch LH (-) operated
      OFF:
      Shift paddle switch LH (-) not operated

      Result

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result:

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift paddle switch (transmission shift switch assembly) is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D67-17 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift paddle switch RH (+) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      D67-5 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift paddle switch LH (-) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      D67-17 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift paddle switch RH (+) not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      D67-5 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift paddle switch LH (-) not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    3. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      10 kΩ or higher

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D25-8 (SUP) - D67-17 (SFTU) Always Below 1 Ω
      D25-1 (SDN) - D67-5 (SFTD) Always Below 1 Ω
      D25-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D25-8 (SUP) or D67-17 (SFTU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D25-1 (SDN) or D67-5 (SFTD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D144-8 (SUP) - D67-17 (SFTU) Always Below 1 Ω
      D144-1 (SDN) - D67-5 (SFTD) Always Below 1 Ω
      D144-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D144-8 (SUP) or D67-17 (SFTU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D144-1 (SDN) or D67-5 (SFTD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    6. Reconnect the spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  5. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) LH 

    Refer to INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  6. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) RH

  7. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift paddle switch (transmission shift switch assembly) is moved to each position.

      z30-4 (SDN) - z30-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch LH (-) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      z30-2 (SUP) - z30-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch RH (+) operated Below 2.5 Ω
      z30-4 (SDN) - z30-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch LH (-) not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z30-2 (SUP) - z30-3 (ECC) Shift paddle switch RH (+) not operated 1 MΩ or higher
    3. Reconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector.
