Pattern Select Switch EV Mode Circuit [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. ASK ABOUT VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check if a buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on the multi-information display when attempting to enter EV drive mode.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No buzzer sounded and no message was displayed on multi-information display A
      A buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on multi-information display B

      HINT: 

      If a buzzer sounds or a message is displayed on the multi-information display, one or more of the EV drive mode entry conditions have not been met.

    Result: 

    END

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Perform the CAN Bus Check using the GTS.

      CAN Bus Check 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2021 - ]

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Perform the Health Check using the GTS.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output A
      DTCs are output B
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2021 - 03/2024]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2024 - ]

  4. READ VALUE USING GTS (EV MODE, EV MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Read the Data List using the GTS.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      EV Mode
      EV Mode Switch

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      GTS display changes according to EV drive mode switch operation A
      Other than above B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLES. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2021 - ]

  5. INSPECT EV MODE SWITCH 

    Refer to INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

    Result

    OK
    NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE EV MODE SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EV MODE SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the EV mode switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D32-7 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the EV mode switch connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - EV MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the EV mode switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D67-33 (EVSW) - D32-4 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      D67-33 (EVSW) or D32-4 (S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the EV mode switch connector.
    5. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
