DTC P176D-12: IG2 Signal (Gear Shift Control Module "A") Circuit Short to Auxiliary Battery [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (SHIFT CONTROL ECU) (IGP TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the D39 transmission floor shift assembly (shift control ECU) connector.

      Procedure1

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D39-1 (IGP) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    3. Connect the transmission floor shift assembly (shift control ECU) connector.

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Procedure1

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

      Post-procedure1

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Disconnect the GTS.
    5. Leave the vehicle as is for 60 seconds or more.
      NOTE:
      • Do not connect the GTS.
      • Do not depress the brake pedal.
      • Do not open/close any of the doors.

    Result: 

    NEXT

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (PERFORM A REPRODUCTION TEST) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 1 minute or more.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for 1 minute or more.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Procedure1

    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P176D-12 is not output A
      P176D-12 is output B

      Post-procedure1

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    END

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (SHIFT CONTROL ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT CONTROL ECU - IGP NO. 1 RELAY) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the D39 transmission floor shift assembly (shift control ECU) connector.
    2. Remove the IGP NO. 1 relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D39-1 (IGP) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. Install the IGP NO. 1 relay to the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    5. Connect the transmission floor shift assembly (shift control ECU) connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. INSPECT RELAY (IGP NO. 1) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Remove the IGP NO. 1 relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Procedure1

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Battery voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      Result

    3. Install the IGP NO. 1 relay to the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

    REPLACE RELAY (IGP NO. 1) 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)

    1. None

      Procedure1

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      A10-24 (IGPD) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGP NO. 1 RELAY - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Remove the IGP NO. 1 relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the A10 certification ECU (smart key ECU Assembly) connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A10-24 (IGPD) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. Connect the certification ECU (smart key ECU Assembly) connector.
    5. Install the IGP NO. 1 relay to the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

    Result: 

    OK
