Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (SPORT SHIFT SWITCH STATUS) 
    1. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the A19 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A19-31 (SFTU) - A19-47 (EPPM) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A19-30 (SFTD) - A19-47 (EPPM) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A19-31 (SFTU) - A19-47 (EPPM) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A19-30 (SFTD) - A19-47 (EPPM) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A19 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A19-9 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2021 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column:

      Disconnect the D25 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

    2. for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column:

      Disconnect the D144 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the A19 ECM connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      FOR MANUAL TILT AND MANUAL TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A19-31 (SFTU) - D25-8 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-30 (SFTD) - D25-1 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-47 (EPPM) - D25-2 (ECC) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-31 (SFTU) or D25-8 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-30 (SFTD) or D25-1 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-47 (EPPM) or D25-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      FOR POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A19-31 (SFTU) - D144-8 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-30 (SFTD) - D144-1 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-47 (EPPM) - D144-2 (ECC) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-31 (SFTU) or D144-8 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-30 (SFTD) or D144-1 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  6. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch LH (transmission shift switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch LH (Transmission Shift Switch Assembly))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-1 (SDN) - A-2 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A-1 (SDN) - A-3 (ECC1) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      A-1 (SDN) - A-2 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A-1 (SDN) - A-3 (ECC1) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

  7. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch RH (transmission shift switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      B-1 (SUP) - B-2 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      B-1 (SUP) - B-2 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  8. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the transmission shift switch assembly.

      (to Spiral Cable Sub-assembly)

      Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2021 - ]

    2. Disconnect the z30 No. 1 switch wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z30-2 (SUP) - z30-3 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      z30-4 (SDN) - z30-3 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      z30-2 (SUP) - z30-3 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z30-4 (SDN) - z30-3 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
