DTC P01E3-15: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 3 Circuit Short to Battery or Open [11/2021 - ]: Description

HINT: 

When DTC P01E3-15 is stored, the ECM enters fail-safe mode. The ECM changes the engine coolant temperature judgment value (for inlet side) to the outlet coolant temperature - 5°C (-9°F) and sets the target engine coolant temperature to 82°C (180°F), Fail-safe mode continues until a pass condition is detected.

When a DTC is output, check the Data List item "Coolant Temperature Sensor3" using the GTS.

P01E3-15 -40°C (-40°F)
  • Short to +B in THW3 circuit
  • Open in THW3 circuit
  • Open in ETHW circuit

If the Data List displays a normal value, the normal value may be due to a temporary recovery from the malfunction condition. Check for intermittent problems.
