Installation [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

   1. Clean the oil seal retainer oil seal contact surface of the crankshaft.
   2. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new rear engine oil seal.
      NOTE:

      • Do not allow foreign matter to contact the lip of the timing chain case oil seal.
      • Do not allow MP grease to contact the dust seal.
   3. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the rear engine oil seal.
      • SST: 09223-56010 

      Oil Seal Protrusion Height

      0 to 0.5 mm (0 to 0.0197 in.)

      NOTE:

      • Do not tap the rear engine oil seal at an angle.
      • Keep the lip free of foreign matter.

   1. Install the crankshaft angle sensor rotor.

      HINT: 

      Align the pin hole of the crankshaft angle sensor rotor with the pin of the crankshaft.

   1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.
      • SST: 09213-58014 
        1. 09213-70020
      • SST: 09330-00021 
   2. Install the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and rear drive plate spacer onto the crankshaft.

      HINT: 

      As the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and the rear drive plate spacer are not reversible, be sure to install them so that they are facing in the direction shown in the illustration.

   3. Clean the 10 bolt holes.
   4. Apply a few drops of adhesive to 2 or 3 threads at the tip of each of 10 new bolts.

      Adhesive

      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

      NOTE:

      After applying the adhesive, tighten the bolt right away.

   5. Install and uniformly tighten the 10 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 29.5 N*m (301 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      • Do not reuse the drive plate installation bolts.
      • Handle the drive plate installation bolts carefully. Do not scratch them or subject them to any shocks.
      • Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installing the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly.
   6. Mark the top of the bolts with paint.
   7. Tighten the 10 bolts 90° in the same sequence.
   8. Check that the paint marks are now at a 90° angle to the top.
