Operation Method [10/2017 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. SECURE VEHICLE 
    1. Apply the parking brake.
    2. Turn the power switch off and use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.
      WARNING:

      During power failure, make sure use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle as the parking brake cannot be used.

  2. PARKING LOCK FORCED RELEASE 
    1. Remove the console upper panel assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2022 - 10/2023]

    2. While the brake pedal is depressed, use a tool to turn the hexagonal portion approximately 60° clockwise and release the parking lock.
      NOTE:
      • If excessively large amounts of torque is applied, parts may be damaged.
      • If rotated in the opposite direction, parts may be damaged.

      HINT: 

      • Torque required to release lock: Approx. 9.0 N.m (92 kgf/cm, 80 in.lbf)
      • After it is released, the hexagonal portion will return to its original position but the parking lock will stay released.

  3. PARKING LOCK 
    1. After finishing the procedure, press the parking switch with the power switch turned on (IG) to activate the parking lock.
