Reassembly [12/2023 - ]: Procedure

NOTE: When installing parts with double-sided tape, heat the portion with adhesive and the application surface of the parts and with a heat light.

Standard Value

WARNING:

• Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
• Touching the heat light may result in burns.
• Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf) 

1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

   1. Attach the guide and install the front bumper arm sub-assembly LH.
   2. Install the 4 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

HINT: 

The illustration is an example, so the details may differ.

   1. Install the front bumper reinforcement sub-assembly with the 8 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)

   1. Install the No. 3 nose piece to an air riveter and insert the mandrel section of a new 6.4 mm rivet into the nose piece.
   2. Press the rivets perpendicularly to the installation holes. Using the air riveter, install the front bumper mounting bracket LH with the 3 rivets.

      HINT: 

      Pull the trigger again to cut off the rivet if it is not cut off.

   1. Attach the guide and install the front bumper No. 2 retainer bracket.
   2. Install the No. 3 nose piece to an air riveter and insert the mandrel section of a new 6.4 mm rivet into the nose piece.
   3. Press the rivets perpendicularly to the installation holes. Using the air riveter, install the 3 rivets.

      HINT: 

      Pull the trigger again to cut off the rivet if it is not cut off.

1. Use the same procedure described for the front bumper No. 2 retainer bracket.

   1. Clean the surface of the front bumper cover.

      1. Using a heat light, heat the front bumper cover surface.

      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the front bumper cover.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      NOTE:

      • Installing the front bumper retainer with some double-sided tape remaining may cause poor adhesion. Perform this procedure until the tape is sufficiently removed.
      • Make sure to use a cloth when removing. Using a screwdriver, etc., may cause damage and poor adhesion.
      • Clean the surface even when using a new part.
   2. Apply primer.

      1. Apply primer to the front bumper cover on the installation area of the front bumper retainer using a brush or felt.

      NOTE:

      • Replace the brush or felt if it is dirty or has become hardened.
      • Keep any painted surface free from primer.
      • If the primer contacts a painted surface, it may leave light primer marks.
      • Do not touch surfaces to which primer has been applied until the front bumper retainer has been attached.

      2. Let the primer dry sufficiently.

      NOTE:

      Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

      Recommended drying time

      10 minutes or more (at 23°C (73°F))

   3. Using a heat light, heat the front bumper cover and a new front bumper retainer.
   4. Align the 3 front bumper retainers with the mark-off line on the front bumper cover and install it as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      The application strength of the front bumper retainer will weaken if reapplied. If reapplication is necessary, be sure to replace it with a new one.

      HINT: 

      Apply pressure so that it does not lift up from the front bumper cover.

   3. Using a heat light, heat the front bumper cover and a new ultrasonic sensor clip.
   4. Align the 6 ultrasonic sensor clips with the mark-off line on the front bumper cover and install it as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      The application strength of the ultrasonic sensor clip will weaken if reapplied. If reapplication is necessary, be sure to replace it with a new one.

      HINT: 

      Apply pressure so that it does not lift up from the front bumper cover.

      • Do not touch surfaces to which primer has been applied until the No. 1 moulding tape has been attached.

   3. Using a heat light, heat the front bumper cover and a new No. 1 moulding tape.
   4. Align the No. 1 moulding tape with the mark-off line on the front bumper cover and install it as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      The application strength of the No. 1 moulding tape will weaken if reapplied. If reapplication is necessary, be sure to replace it with a new one.

      HINT: 

      Apply pressure so that it does not lift up from the front bumper cover.

2. Use the same procedure for the other side.

      • Do not touch surfaces to which primer has been applied until the front bumper reinforcement extension LH has been attached.

      NOTE:

      Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

   3. Using a heat light, heat the front bumper cover and a new front bumper reinforcement extension LH.
   4. Install the front bumper reinforcement extension LH with the 3 screws.
      NOTE:

      The application strength of the front bumper reinforcement extension LH will weaken if reapplied. If reapplication is necessary, be sure to replace it with a new one.

      HINT: 

      Apply pressure so that it does not lift up from the front bumper cover.

1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

1. Use the same procedure described for the No. 2 washer bracket.

1. Use the same procedure described for the front center ultrasonic sensor retainer.
