WARNING: Do not perform work if the back door is not securely supported. The back door could fall, resulting in injury.

   Hook

   1. Disconnect the connector.
   2. Detach the grommet.
   3. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, slightly raise the 2 stop rings as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      • Do not remove the stop rings from the power back door unit assembly LH. Raise the stop rings just enough to allow the ball joints to be detached.
      • Do not reuse the power back door unit assembly LH if a stop ring has been removed.
   4. Detach the 2 ball joints to remove the power back door unit assembly LH.
      NOTE:

      Remove the power back door unit assembly LH while supporting the back door by hand.

   5. Remove the wire harness from the power back door sensor assembly hook.

HINT: 

Only perform this procedure only when removing and installing the back door upper damper stay bracket LH or back door lower damper stay bracket LH.
