Replacement [12/2021 - ]: Procedure
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE LOWER TRANSFER CASE PROTECTOR
- DRAIN TRANSFER OIL NOTE:
Drain the transfer oil 14 minutes or more passed after the vehicle has stopped.
If refill the transfer oil with insufficient transfer oil draining, the transfer oil is excess and causes trouble.
- ADD TRANSFER OIL
- Install a new gasket onto the drain plug and then install the drain plug.
Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf/cm, 27 ft.lbf)
- Add transfer oil.
Oil Grade
Toyota Genuine Transfer Gear Oil LF or Equivalent
Viscosity
SAE 75W
Standard Capacity
1.70 to 1.86 liters (1.80 to 1.96 US qts, 1.50 to 1.63 Imp. qts)
NOTE:Add transfer oil slowly.
- Check that the transfer oil level is between 0 to 5.0 mm (0 to 0.196 in.) from the bottom lip of the filler plug hole.
*a 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.196 in.) NOTE:- Too much or too little transfer oil will lead to transfer problems.
- After driving, check the transfer oil level again.
- Install a new gasket onto the filler plug and then install the filler plug.
Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf/cm, 27 ft.lbf)
- Inspect for transfer oil leak.
- Install a new gasket onto the drain plug and then install the drain plug.
- INSTALL LOWER TRANSFER CASE PROTECTOR
- Install the lower transfer case protector with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 13.6 N.m (139 kgf/cm, 10 ft.lbf)
- Install the lower transfer case protector with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL TRANSMISSION UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
- Install the transmission under cover assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 29 N.m (296 kgf/cm, 21 ft.lbf)
- Install the transmission under cover assembly with the 2 bolts.
