Installation [03/2017 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2024 Lexus LC 500, 2023 Lexus LC 500, 2022 Lexus LC 500, 2021 Lexus LC 500, and 2020 Lexus LC 500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL COLLAR 
    1. Install the 8 collars.

  2. INSTALL ACTIVE REAR WING 
    1. Insert the 2 guides and attach the claw.

    2. Install the active rear wing with the 14 nuts.

      Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf/cm, 49 in.lbf) 

    3. Connect the connector.
  3. INSPECT REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the difference in level (a) between the luggage compartment door panel and upper surface of the rear spoiler when the rear spoiler is retracted.

      Standard

      Area Measurement Area Measurement
      Front [A-A] 0 to 1.5 mm (0 to 0.059 in.)
      0 to -1.5 mm (0 to -0.059 in.)
      Rear [B-B] 0 to 1.5 mm (0 to 0.059 in.)
      0 to -1.5 mm (0 to -0.059 in.)

      HINT: 

      • For the (a) dimension, (+) represents the condition that the rear spoiler is above the luggage compartment door panel level. (-) represents the condition that the rear spoiler is below the luggage compartment door panel level.
      • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  4. ADJUST REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the other side.

    1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 "TORX" screws.

    2. Using a screwdriver, turn the 2 collars of the top cover lock control link sub-assembly LH to adjust the height.

    3. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install 2 new "TORX" screws.

      Torque: 5.1 N.m (52 kgf/cm, 45 in.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Do not reuse the "TORX" screw that has been removed.

  5. INSTALL REAR SPOILER NO. 2 SEAL 

    HINT: 

    When installing the rear spoiler No. 2 seal, heat the rear spoiler No. 2 seal and rear spoiler drain end cap LH using a heat light.

    WARNING:
    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
    • Touching the heat light may result in burns.
    • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

    NOTE:

    Do not heat the rear spoiler No. 2 seal and rear spoiler drain end cap LH excessively.

    1. When reusing the rear spoiler drain end cap LH:
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear spoiler drain end cap LH surface.
      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear spoiler drain end cap LH.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
        NOTE:
        • Installing the rear spoiler No. 2 seal with some double-sided tape remaining may cause poor adhesion. Perform this procedure until the tape is sufficiently removed.
        • Make sure to use a cloth when removing. Using a screwdriver, etc., may cause damage and poor adhesion.
        • Also, clean a new rear spoiler drain end cap LH surface.
    2. Using a heat light, heat the rear spoiler drain end cap LH and a new rear spoiler No. 2 seal.
      NOTE:

      Do not heat the rear spoiler No. 2 seal and rear spoiler drain end cap LH excessively.

    3. Remove the release paper from the rear spoiler No. 2 seal.
      NOTE:

      After removing the peeling paper, do not touch the surface of the tape with your fingers or cotton work gloves.

    4. Install the rear spoiler No. 2 seal in the position shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      The application strength of the rear spoiler No. 2 seal will weaken if reapplied. If reapplication is necessary, be sure to replace it with a new one.

      HINT: 

      Apply pressure so that it does not lift up from the rear spoiler drain end cap LH.

  6. INSTALL REAR SPOILER SEAL 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the rear spoiler No. 2 seal.

  7. INSTALL REAR SPOILER DRAIN END CAP LH 
    1. Install the rear spoiler drain end cap LH with the 3 nuts.

      Torque: 6.7 N.m (68 kgf/cm, 59 in.lbf) 

  8. INSTALL REAR SPOILER DRAIN END CAP RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  9. CONNECT SLIDING ROOF DRAIN HOSE 
    1. Connect the sliding roof hose with the clip.

      Install in this Direction

      HINT: 

      Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  10. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [03/2017 - 01/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [01/2021 - ]

  11. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSIST GRIP 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [03/2017 - 01/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 [01/2021 - ]

  12. INITIALIZE ACTIVE REAR WING SYSTEM 

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [03/2017 - ]

  13. CHECK ACTIVE REAR WING SYSTEM 

    Refer to OPERATION CHECK [03/2017 - ]
