DTC C1434: Steering Angle Sensor Output [10/2018 - ]: Procedure
- CHECK DTC
- Clear the DTCs.
Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2018 - ]
Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC > Clear DTCs
- Turn the power switch off.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) again and check that no CAN communication system DTCs are output.
Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [10/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [10/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2021 - 07/2022] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [07/2022 - ]
- Turn the power switch on (READY).
- Drive the vehicle at a speed of 35 km/h (22 mph), turn the steering wheel to the right and left, and check that no speed sensor and/or yaw rate and acceleration sensor DTCs are output.

Result Proceed to DTC C1434 is output. A CAN communication system DTCs are output. B Speed sensor and/or yaw rate and acceleration sensor DTCs are output. C HINT:
- If there is a malfunction in a speed sensor or the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly), an abnormal value may be output even though the steering sensor is normal.
- If speed sensor and yaw rate and acceleration sensor DTCs are output simultaneously, repair these malfunctions and inspect the steering sensor.

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL)
- Remove the steering wheel and column cover.

(to Steering Sensor) - Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

The connector is securely connected.
- Disconnect the steering sensor connector.
- Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.
OK
No deformation or corrosion.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Before measuring the resistance of the steering sensor, turn the power switch off and leave the vehicle for 1 minute or more without operating the key or switches, or opening or closing the doors.
