Removal [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    for Gasoline Model: Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]

    for HV Model: Refer to REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]

    WARNING:
    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2018 - 07/2022]

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [10/2018 - 08/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [08/2021 - 07/2022]

  5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    Deployment Side
    • When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      Remove the 3 bolts.

    4. Disengage the claws and guides to separate the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When separating the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    5. While holding the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly with one hand, disconnect the airbag connector.
