Cannot Establish Wi-Fi Connection [10/2018 - 10/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK "Wi-Fi" CONNECTION SETTING
    1. Check that the following "Wi-Fi" connection setting conditions are met.
      • "Wi-Fi" connection setting is turned on
      • Communication setting is set to "Wi-Fi"

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    NG

    PERFORM WI-FI SETTING AGAIN

    Result:

    OK

    See step  2

  2. CHECK ENVIRONMENT AND PROCEDURES
    1. Check the conditions and procedure for establishing a "Wi-Fi" connection, and perform "Wi-Fi" connection again.

      HINT:

      • As there may be wave interference, disconnect other "Wi-Fi" compatible devices (Miracast compatible devices) or "Bluetooth" compatible devices before establishing a "Wi-Fi" connection.
      • A "Wi-Fi" connection can be established manually or automatically.
      • There are 3 ways to establish a manual connection: Connecting using simple setting, connecting by searching for a "Wi-Fi" access point and inputting a password, and connecting by inputting an SSID and password.
      • Even though an automatic connection is enabled, a connection can be established only when a "Wi-Fi" access point with the same SSID and password that were used for a previous connection exists.
      • It may not be possible to establish a "Wi-Fi" connection in a region other than the region where the vehicle was purchased.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
"Wi-Fi" connection can be established. A
"Wi-Fi" connection cannot be established. B

    Result:

    END

    Result:

    See step  3

  3. CHECK PORTABLE DEVICE
    1. Bring a portable device to be used to establish a "Wi-Fi" connection into the cabin and perform "Wi-Fi" connection again near the in-vehicle device.

      HINT:

      • Considering the radio wave environment around the vehicle, move the vehicle and establish a "Wi-Fi" connection.
      • Depending on the portable device, operation by the customer (Internet sharing, tethering settings, etc.) may be required each time a "Wi-Fi" connection is established.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
"Wi-Fi" connection can be established. A
"Wi-Fi" connection cannot be established. B

    Result:

    END

    Result:

    See step  4

  4. CHECK WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    1. Check that the Techstream can be used in the working environment.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
The Techstream can be used in the working environment. A
The Techstream cannot be used in the working environment. B

    Result:

    See step  7

    Result:

    See step  5

  5. CHECK WAVE INTERFERENCE
    1. Check for wave interference while a "Wi-Fi" connection is established.
      1. Using the Techstream and USB memory device, check "Wi-Fi" Connection History" and proceed to the following step.

        Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2018 - 10/2019]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
"Received Signal Strength" is "-71 dBm" or less. A
"Data Rate" is "10 Mbps" or less.
      None of the above. B

    Result:

ESTABLISH "Wi-Fi" CONNECTION IN AREA WITH LITTLE WAVE INTERFERENCE

    Result:

    See step  6

  6. DETERMINE CAUSE OF "Wi-Fi" CONNECTION FAILURE
    1. Determine the cause of "Wi-Fi" connection failure.
      1. Using the Techstream and USB memory device, check "Wi-Fi" Connection History and proceed to the following step.

        Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2018 - 10/2019]

      Result

      Result Cause Proceed to
"Timeout" and "AP Connection Error (WPS)" are displayed. Portable device was not operated. A
"Authentication Failure" and "AP Connection Error" are displayed. Wrong password was input on a portable device.
"Authentication Failure" and "AP Connection Error (WPS)" are displayed.
"Communication Error" and "AP Connection Error" are displayed. "Wi-Fi" connection failed as there were no corresponding portable devices near the vehicle due to a wrong SSID being input.
"Communication Error" and "AP Connection Error (WPS)" are displayed. "Wi-Fi" connection failed as there were no corresponding portable devices near the vehicle.
"Timeout" and "AP Connection Error" are displayed. There was no response as the portable device was turned off. B
"Communication Error" and "AP Connection Error" are displayed. "Wi-Fi" connection failed as the portable device was turned off after searching for a "Wi-Fi" access point near the vehicle.
"Communication Error" and "AP Connection Error (WPS)" are displayed.
Any of the "Result" column items and "DHCP Connection Error" are displayed. Although a "Wi-Fi" connection has been established, there is a malfunction in a "Wi- Fi" compatible function. C
