DTC B1508: Short in Turn Signal / Hazard Flasher Circuit [03/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK SYMPTOMS 
    1. Check the problem symptoms.

  2. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the A3 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink, a component of the headlight assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  3. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - ]

    2. Connect the A3 headlight assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If all LH side turn signal lights do not blink, the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  5. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT CIRCUIT) 
    1. Connect the A3 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the S12 outer mirror control ECU assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink, there is a malfunction in the circuit after the S12 connector.

  6. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Connect the S12 outer mirror control ECU assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the S13 outer mirror control ECU assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If all LH side turn signal lights do not blink, the outer mirror control ECU assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY LH - OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Connect the S13 outer mirror control ECU assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the S7 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If all LH side turn signal lights do not blink, the harness or connector are malfunctioning.

  8. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (SWITCH CIRCUIT (AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Connect the S12 outer mirror control ECU assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the O64 air conditioning control assembly connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink, the air conditioning control assembly is malfunctioning.

    1. Connect the A3 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the S7 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink, a component of the outer rear view mirror assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  10. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (OUTER MIRROR ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Remove the side turn signal light assembly LH from outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - ]

    2. Connect the S7 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If all LH side turn signal lights do not blink, the outer mirror actuator assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  11. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (SWITCH CIRCUIT (AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Connect the S7 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the O64 air conditioning control assembly connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink, the air conditioning control assembly is malfunctioning.

  12. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (SWITCH CIRCUIT (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Connect the O64 air conditioning control assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O23 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.
    3. Operate the hazard warning signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink, the windshield wiper switch assembly is malfunctioning.

  13. CHECK LH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHT CIRCUIT) 
    1. Connect the O23 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the U41 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    3. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the LH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the LH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink, the rear combination light socket and wire sub-assembly LH is malfunctioning.

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LH SIDE EACH PARTS - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A3 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the S12 outer mirror control ECU assembly LH connector.*1
    3. Disconnect the S7 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.*2
    4. Disconnect the O64 air conditioning control assembly connector.
    5. Disconnect the O23 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.
    6. Disconnect the O4 combination meter assembly connector.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A3-11 (TNS), S12-11 (TRNI), O64-10 (FRLY), O23-1 (TRNL) or O4-13 (LL) - Body ground*1 Always 10 kΩ or higher

  15. CHECK RH SIDE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS (FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the A11 headlight assembly RH connector.
    2. Operate the turn signal switch and check that the RH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights other than the front turn signal light blink, a component of the headlight assembly RH is malfunctioning.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights other than the side turn signal light blink, the windshield wiper switch assembly is malfunctioning.

      HINT: 

      If the RH side turn signal lights other than the rear turn signal light blink, the rear combination light socket and wire sub-assembly RH is malfunctioning.
